Hi. I’m an English copywriter and editor based in Berlin. I write good words and fix bad ones for clients in music, technology, and the spaces in between.

Here are some recent projects:

To mark four decades of audio-engineering innovation, Focusrite recently took some time to pause and reflect on past achievements — from a one-off console built by Rupert Neve for Sir George Martin to the latest iteration of the world’s most popular audio interface range. As part of the celebrations, I delivered messaging and copy for the limited-edition Scarlett 2i2 Anniversary Edition and helped tell the Focusrite story on a new landing page.

Scarlett 2i2 Anniversary Edition

Forty years of Focusrite

D.j. or music producer working with audio equipment, including a Novation launchpad and mixer, in a dimly lit space.

For Novation

British synth manufacturer Novation brought a trio of new products to Berlin for Superbooth 2025: the next generation of Launch Control, a new-look Launchkey Mk4, and a highly limited–edition Bass Station II collaboration. Lots of exciting news, lots of copy from yours truly — from press releases to product pages.

A new trio of creative tools

For ROLI

ROLI has long been known for pushing the boundaries of musical expression with its squishy Seaboard controller and deep MPE synths like Equator2. And under the LUMI brand, it had also gained a reputation for making piano learning fun and easy for beginners of any age. I helped combine the two under a reunified ROLI brand with a new tone of voice and a whole load of fresh copy.

Refreshing the ROLI brand

Close-up of pink and orange lilies with a quote by Claude Monet that says, "A good impression is lost so quickly."

For Spitfire Audio

For the sound Impressionism, Spitfire looked to a century and a half of visual art for inspiration — and that’s where we started with the copy, too. I stepped in to lend a splash of copywriting colour (and a palette full of other painting metaphors) to this sonic love letter to Monet, Van Gogh, Morisot and co.

Introducing Impressionism

A Focusrite RedNet TX audio interface connected to a RedNet receiver, with cables plugged into the back, set against a black background.

For Focusrite

Hundreds of channels of audio, tens of different use cases, one thunderbolt cable; RedNet TNX condenses forty years of Focusrite’s pro-audio know-how into a portable-yet-powerful package. I helped the team to get the messaging right and tell the story of their latest Dante interface.

Making pro audio portable

A person working on music production using a MIDI controller, laptop, and monitor in a room with wooden blinds.

For ROLI

Airwave uses computer vision to track your hands in incredible detail, allowing you to “play the air” above your keyboard. It’s also an AI-powered tool that helps you learn piano by providing feedback on your technique and personalising your progress through the ROLI Learn app’s lessons. Messaging and writing copy for these two unique use cases required a careful approach and a good deal of creativity.

Announcing Airwave

A close-up of a Native Instruments keyboard with text overlay celebrating 25 years of inspiration and innovation.

For Native Instruments

In 2021, computer music pioneer Native Instruments took time out to reflect on its legacy and celebrate with limited-edition hardware, a free plug-in, video and editorial features, and a dedicated microsite to tie it all together. I helped bring the full story to life, from first concepts to finishing touches.

For ROLI

ROLI’s latest MPE controller scales up all the best bits of Piano M (FKA LUMI Keys), adding two more octaves of full-size, semi-weighted keys, each with polyphonic aftertouch and pitch bend built right in.

For Google Arts & Culture

Google Arts & Culture partners with cultural organisations around the world to create online exhibits of artwork and artefacts of special significance. Working with Berlin’s Museum of Musical Instruments, I helped create a series of stories about the history of electronic instruments.

Stories about synthesizers

A laptop with digital audio software open, surrounded by audio equipment, cables, and speakers in a music or recording studio.

For Native Instruments

Native Instruments first began working on a dedicated blog in 2016. When I took over as Editor in 2019, we relaunched the site with a fresh, new look and a renewed focus on strong visuals, cultural relevance, and standout storytelling.

For everyone else

It’s not all pianos and plug-ins; I’ve written press releases, bios, and liner notes for artists; websites for charities; blog posts about everything from cybersecurity to satellite navigation to coin collecting; newspaper articles, bids for public funding, and (just once) a speech for a former US president.

If your project doesn’t quite fit with the above, get in touch and let me know what you’re looking for.
